Dorothy was two years old when her family moved back to Texas, taking up residence in Lake Victor where she went to school until the ninth grade. Then she attended Lampasas High School. She did some babysitting and worked at Consolidated Aircraft in Fort Worth. After she married, she worked at Aerovax in New Bedford, Massachusetts. After the tragic death of her husband, Dorothy enrolled in a hair-styling college then worked in various salons in New Bedford. She met her second husband in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. After they were married, they moved to California where she continued her education in hair-styling. She eventually purchased her own shop, which she had for about 15 years. After taking some time to stay home for a while, she took the opportunity to work for the Torrance Police Department as a patrol for school children. When her husband retired, they moved to Belton, Texas where they lived for 14 years before moving to Temple, Texas. Dorothy liked being close to her family again, and working on family trees. She belonged to the Catholic Church.

Elisha lived in Round Top, where he was employed in a store, for the first six years of his marriage to Eugenia. They moved to his birthplace, his father’s plantation near Carmine, where he was a farmer for another six years. He moved his family to Lilac in Milam County where he farmed and ranched, as well as operated a cotton gin. In 1903 he moved the family to near Lake Victor in Burnet County. Here he bought a farm and ranch. He was engaged in this operation until the United States entered World War I. Since his four sons went off to the war, he was unable to continue in this line of work. He rented the land out, bought a hardware store in Lake Victor, and ran this business for several years. After the return of his son Walter, Walter and one of his brothers-in-law bought the business from Elisha. Elisha then returned to the farm near Lake Victor, where he and Eugenia lived for several more years, before being unable to continue farming. They sold their home to their son William and lived in an apartment with him.

Eugenia was taught singing and piano by her mother, and she was also talented at needlework and handwork. She was a busy homemaker, taking care of her large household, including her husband’s mother for a time, but also found time to teach piano.
She became ill while her sons were away during World War I. However, she became better after their return. In January, 1948, she bacame an invalid after falling and breaking her hip.

Eugen arrived in Texas with his parents in 1849, settling on the Nassau Plantation. Soon he owned his own livestock. In adulthood he farmed and ran a freight express to the nearest railroad station. After serving in the Civil War, he made trips to Mexico to sell cotton. He enjoyed smoking a pipe, keeping a small patch of tobacco in his garden.

Theodora was educated in Dusseldorf, Germany, specializing in music. She arrived in Texas in 1849, settling near Round Top. She moved into town after marrying Wilhelm von Roeder. They had one child, a daughter named Marie, who married Tony van Hutton. After von Roeder’s death, she married Carl Eugen von Rosenberg.
Theodora taught piano and voice for more than forty years. She directed the Round Top Mixed Choir for many years, entertained at her home, painted, and engaged in filet. Many members of her family called her “Tante Dorchen.”
