    Russell attended Crockett Elementary, Washington Irving Middle School and Brackenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from high school in 1939, he started working at Kelly Air Force Base as an aircraft machinist apprentice, and later as a tool and die maker, then tool and die maker general foreman. Russell also attended night school taking math and technical college courses. He went into the Army Air Corps and served from 1943 to 1946 in England, France and Germany during World War II. He returned to work at Kelly Air Force Base afterwards. Russell was called to active duty and served during the Korean War. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base in 1976. His hobby was reloading rifle and pistol shells. During the war, he sent home two Italian and one German rifle for which ammunition was not available. His specialty was forming cartridge cases that were not normally available. He enjoys fishing and hunting at the deer lease near Rio Medina. He was a member of the National Associated Retired Federal Employees where he also served as president. He was active in genealogy club and had served as president twice. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Since retirement, he and Anita have enjoyed traveling to Europe, throughout the United States and Hawaii.

When World War II broke out, she started working at Duncan Field and then Kelly Air Force Base where she was until 1946 when she got married. Anita also worked at FHA and San Antonio Independent School District until she started raising her family. She enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts when her children were young. She was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed Bible classes and prayer groups.

    Paul was born at the Nassau Farm and attended school in Round Top and La Grange. He went to university at Hildesheim, Germany with his brother Axel. However, he returned to Texas the next summer. In La Grange, he studied law under Judge Teichmuller and later at Vanderbilt University, graduating in the class of 1881. At one time he served as deputy sheriff in La Grange for two years. He practiced law in La Grange until 1889 when he moved his family to San Antonio, joining his brother in the real estate business. In 1900 he was elected Bexar County Tax Collector, serving until 1908.

    He and his wife celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary while on board ship to Germany. Then at the age of 57 he had a severe case of pneumonia, leaving him very weak. As a result, he was ordered by a physician to spend some time in New Mexico. Years later he acquired diabetes, later dying from complications of this illness.

    She was fond of music, enjoyed crocheting, gardened, and traveled.
