John grew up in the home of his grandparents, Omah and Opah, along with a wonderful Mexican cook, benevolent aunts and extended family members and family employees. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic Grade School, Central Catholic High School and St. Mary's University. He established life long friendships with both peers and teachers. He supported his alma mater's St. Mary's Rattlers, and his favorite organizations were the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Ann's and the credit union. John earned a post graduate degree in meteorology from the California Institute of Technology. He served in the military as a navigator. He liked to travel, the outdoors, and tinkering in his shed. His passion was the deer lease where he spent Sundays with family members. John developed Parkinson's Disease and was medically retired from Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas where he was in Civil Service.

Elizabeth's parents were second generation Polish immigrants who reared their family in San Antonio, Texas, where she attended St. Gerard's Parish and graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1937. After graduation she obtained a job in the accounting department at Southwestern Bell. She worked there for seven years until her marriage. Elizabeth was a traditional 1950's homemaker. She ran an efficient home, being an excellent cook, housekeeper, seamstress and gardener. Her love of flowers was a life-long passion. She was active in the PTA while the children were in school. She also was secretary for St. Ann's Parochial School and the bookkeeper for her son-in-law's law firm. Elizabeth enjoyed her cat, the daily newspaper, crossword puzzles, the Dallas Cowboys and tracking the weather. She favored radio over television. She was known to her grandchildren as "Grandma JP."

Paul was born at the Nassau Farm and attended school in Round Top and La Grange. He went to university at Hildesheim, Germany with his brother Axel. However, he returned to Texas the next summer. In La Grange, he studied law under Judge Teichmuller and later at Vanderbilt University, graduating in the class of 1881. At one time he served as deputy sheriff in La Grange for two years. He practiced law in La Grange until 1889 when he moved his family to San Antonio, joining his brother in the real estate business. In 1900 he was elected Bexar County Tax Collector, serving until 1908.
He and his wife celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary while on board ship to Germany. Then at the age of 57 he had a severe case of pneumonia, leaving him very weak. As a result, he was ordered by a physician to spend some time in New Mexico. Years later he acquired diabetes, later dying from complications of this illness.

She was fond of music, enjoyed crocheting, gardened, and traveled.
