1301 Lucille attended school in Sharp, Texas as well as in Austin, Texas. She and her husband were married on Christmas Eve. After the were married, they lived in Galveston, Texas, while William served in the Army during World War II. After the war, they went to Buckholts, Texas. After the children were grown, Lucille went to work a the school. She loved to do all kinds of crafts and liked to play Bingo. VON ROSENBERG, Lucille Lillian (I13954)
 
1302 Lucille was a hardworking housewife, caring for her family and using her skills in cooking, sewing, gardening, and canning which helped during the economic difficulty that the entire nation experienced. With an immaculately clean home, bountiful garden, and boundless energy, she quietly tended to her family and friends. When Milton's job with an oil exploration company required leaving La Grange for other cities in Texas, she was a cheerful traveler. In the 1950s, they managed the La Grange Bus Station. Lucille's skill as a marvelous cook became knwon throughout the county. The small lunch counter grew into a special dining place. Even school children would walk six blocks downtown to eat a noon meal prepared by Lucille. The family were members of the Presbyterian Church in La Grange, where they served faithfully. 1307 Maggie was born on her parents’ farm near Hallettsville. She enjoyed country life and was adept at riding horses and herding cattle. She also studied music, learning to play the piano. She graduated from Halletsville High School at the age of sixteen. She received her teaching certificate and taught two years at the rural schools of Seclusion and Mossy Grove near Hallettsville.

She married Edgar at the home of her parents. They made their home at San Angelo. She spent much of her time caring for her family, but she found time to tend her flower gardens. Although christened in the Roman Catholic Church, she became a member of the Methodist Church and its Women’s Christian Society.

1310 Marcus has a limited education since he began helping his father in their grocery store. He worked at the store off and on during different times. He was married only one year before he found himself out of work due to the Depression. He finally found a job at Martin-Glover Wholesale Grocery for $14 a week. In 1939 Marcus went into partnership with his wife's uncle, Red Gwinn, selling fresh vegetables and fruit. During this time he and LaGrace were divorced. A few years later he married Lucille, who helped him in the business. When Marcus was called to serve in the Navy, she ran the business. He was severely injured while in the Navy and was semi-disabled. He and Lucille were divorced some time after his return. He later married Bobbie. VON ROSENBERG, Marcus Alexander (I10214)
 
1311 Margaret graduated from Hearne, Texas, High School in 1926. She then attended Baylor University, graduating in 1930. From 1932 to 1936 she taught public school in Ballinger. She served as district president of the Federation of Women’s Club in the Heart of Texas District, was the chairperson of the Runnels County Historical Commission and assisted the county judge in organizing the commission in 1962. She served 10 years on the elected board of the Texas State Dental Auxiliary. She was active in the Ballinger Professional Women’s Club, serving as president twice. 1315 Marian was an asthmatic during childhood, but outgrew it. She flourished in summers at Hood Canal playing tennis, swimming, outboard motor boating, hiking, and evening campfires. She attended Annie Wright Seminary, an Episcopal boarding school, for three years of high school where she graduated as an honor student. She attended Colorado College and the University of Washington where she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She worked as a legal secretary and for a title insurance company. After she married Detrick, the family lived in Alaska, California and Virginia. They divorced and Marian and the children returned to the Northwest. She worked in Federal Civil Service for 21 years as a management analyst at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma. Marian and her aged parents bought a house together in Lakewood (Tacoma) in 1972 that they shared until both parents passed away. A year later she purchased a townhouse with retirement in mind and still lives an active life enjoying friends and family. JENNER, Marian Frances (I18063)

1317 Marie Joan Snow was born on September 12, 1904, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She attended school in Las Cruces and on November 12, 1921, in El Paso, Texas, she was married to Alexander Otto Meerscheidt. To this union were born, Alexander Otto and Oscar Paul. 1323 Marilyn was born and grew up in Los Angeles County, California. She was a 1951 graduate of Covina High School.

She married Ray Bratton Lane on 5 Aug 1952 at her parents home in La Puente, Los Angeles County, California. They had 2 sons, Mike and Greg. After Uncle Ray died, she married Albert Henry Mergel on 2 Dec 1977 in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada.

She was a very talented Artist and painted some beautiful pictures. She had a loving and giving nature and was a dedicated Jehovah's Witness, who was baptized 4 Aug 1956. We will see her again in Paradise.

Marilyn fell asleep in death about 6 pm today under the care of Hospice at the Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks. She is survived by her loving husband, 2 sons, 2 step-children and 6 grandchildren.

When I met her nephew Stephen (my husband) when I was 16, she and I became fast friends and confidants. When we would go to visit their family, her and I would sit up on her bed and talk for hours about everything. I could confide anything to her and I knew she would keep it between us. I love her and miss her so very much.

Our Precious Auntie will forever be Loved and Missed.

1326 Martha grew up and attended schools in La Grange. While quite young, she studied music. After high school, she was a saleswoman in her brother’s mercantile store and helping her parents with their hotel business. After marrying Alexander in a ceremony at her parents’ home, they lived with his mother in La Grange until she moved to San Angelo in 1909 to be with her other sons. After the death of her husband, she took an active role in The von Rosenberg Company, serving as a saleswoman.

Martha was for many years a member of the Roman Catholic Church Choir. She was a member of the Altar Society and National Council of Roman Catholic Women’s Organizations.

1327 Martha was born at the family home in La Grange and attended the Casino School while growing up. She loved and studied music. In 1892 she and her mother moved to San Antonio. Martha planned on teaching piano. However, her brother Max’s wife soon died, and he and his six-week-old twin sons moved in with them. Martha and her mother raised the boys, Martha taking most of the responsibility as her mother was in failing health. She continued to study music under the tutelage of Prof. Schemmel. She also was able to teach piano.

She moved back to La Grange in 1902 to live her sister, Lieschen Scholz. Again she taught piano. In 1907 she became the organist at the Lutheran Church, and she became active in other church work.
In 1911 her mother died and the twins were grown. So she moved back to San Antonio to teach and study music, also teaching a large Sunday school class. She got her greatest pleasure from her hobby of establishing and preserving the von Rosenberg family history.

As a result of her strenuous life in San Antonio, her health soon began to fail. So she moved into the Lutheran Home in Round Rock. Even though her health had become a real problem by 1940, she was able to bring joy to her companions at the home through her musical talent and Bible teaching. She developed inflammatory cancer and died in a San Antonio convalescent home.

1328 Mary Evelyn's birth mother is Mary Proctor (Bobbie's daughter from a previous marriage), who was not in a financial position to give her a good home life, so her grandmother Bobbie and Marcus took her home from the hospital. She was legally adopted by Marcus and Bobbie. She spent her childhood days growing up in Midland, Texas. Mary Evelyn took care of Marcus during the last five years of his life, as he suffered a great deal from emphysema. He required oxygen in order to breathe and became very weak, barely able to walk. She became his right hand in helping him. After high school graduation, Mary Evelyn married and had a daughter, Erica. 1330 Mary Jane moved from Shreveport, Louisiana to San Antonio, Texas, where she attended school. After graduating from Harlandale High School, she worked at several department stores until she married Arthur. She was a homemaker and lived a simple life, mostly at home. She was afflicted with several incapacitating illnesses during her adult years. 1335 Maureen was a fifth generation Texas, whose family roots thread from colonial New England and Virginia through "The Old Three Hundred" of Texas to pioneer ranches of West Texas. She was a favorite grandchild of O. P. "Pack" Wolf, Marshall of Snyder, Texas for twenty-six years, and if her father missed her during one of their visits to the Snyder square, she was usually found with Pack, astride his big roan "Rowdy," helping him make the rounds. After "Neenie" graduated with honors from Snyder High School in 1935, the family returned to Burnet County. Her ancestors, Thomas Hopkins Wolf, William Henry Sims, Clarissa O'Hare, Thomas Glimp, and Aredlia Woods had been among the first settlers of the region. There she met her future husband. Tall and leggy, she was a perfect dance partner for Elgin, and from their first twirl on the dance floor, they were inseparable. They first set up housekeeping in Burnet and resided there, except for brief stays in Hondo and Arlington, until moving to Deer Park in 1954. In the suburbs of Houston, she was the consummate wife and mother, tireless in her dedication to her family. Her meals, most featuring family recipes never written but long committed to memory, were feasts of Texas cooking. When Elgin retired in 1976, they returned to the their farm at Burnet, birthplace of four of their sons, where she continued to reside. Maureen was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, The Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 425 in Burnet, Texas, and was an organizer and charter member in OES Chapter 1063 in Deer Park, Texas. WOLF, Daphne Maureen (I29109)
 
1336 Maurice was born and raised in Bellville to a musical family. He learned to play the violin as a child. As part of a large family he had to work in addition to going to school. He enjoyed the outdoors and found enough time to hunt and, to a lesser extent, fish. Regarding a profession, he wanted to become a doctor. However, his older brother was given that opportunity and his family could not afford to send Maurice as well.

After his mother’s death the family moved to Harper and then Kerrville. He soon met Dora von Rosenberg who had relatives and friends in his hometown of Bellville. The two married and went to live in Kerrivlle where Maurice worked for the Schreiner enterprises. Dora never became happy in the Texas hill country and they soon moved to La Grange. There Maurice first worked as an assistant to his father-in-law and later managed the La Grange Cotton Oil Mill. The prospered under his management. He also became prominent in civic affairs and was an active member of the school district’s Board of Trustees. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and in 1919 received the 32nd Masonic Degree at El Mina Temple in Galveston.

The family moved to Austin in the early 1930s but he and Dora separated in 1935. After his divorce Maurice married Olga Steinbrook neé Ehlers. They moved to Harlingen where he was an insurance firm representative. He later took a traveling position with the State Health Department in Tyler where he died in 1947.

1337 Maxine grew up and attended school in La Grange, Texas where she enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with her friends, as well as numerous von Rosenberg cousins. Maxine was involved in the community and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. 1339 Michael graduated from Rockdale High School in 1970 and went to Temple Junior College where he received an Applied Science degree. He worked at Temple Products for about 15 years and has worked at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry in Cameron, Texas since 1985. His hobbies include fishing, golf, raising cattle, and helping coach Danielle's softball team. He has also been active in the Rockdale 4-H Club and the Milam County Veterinary Science Group. VON ROSENBERG, Michael Alvin (I39155)
 
1340 Mildred attended both private and public schools in Laredo. She received a BA degree in Library Science from Texas State College for Women in 1941. After graduating, she was a librarian for the Texas High School in El Paso, Texas. After her marriage to Roger, they moved to Michigan where Roger studied at Michigan State College, and she worked in the library. She later as librarian at the College of William and Mary and Tusculum College. At the final move to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Mildred was responsible for the establisment of mental retardation facilties, which included a school and a workshop. A group home for the mentally retarded was built and named “The Mildred Miller Group Home.” Mildred passed away from cancer. SHINER, Mildred Adeline (I385)
 
1341 Mildred attended the public schools in San Antonio and graduated from the old Main Avenue High School. As a girl she was active in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

Jack Shiner whom she married was employed by the U. S. Department of Agriculture; so the moved from time to time.

To this union two children were born. Her home life has been very happy and a busy one; still she finds time to spend in her garden and sew for herself and grandchildren. She has also been Past Matron of the Laredo Chapter No. 86, Order of the Eastern Star. She is also a member of the Episcopal Church and now resides in El Paso, Texas. 
MEERSCHEIDT, Mildred Ophelia (I9639)
 
1342 Miles graduated from La Grange High School and received his LL.B. from the University of Texas (Austin) School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in 1935. He practiced law in La Grange from 1935 to 1938 and from 1945 until his death in 1986. From 1938 to 1945 he served as assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern district of Texas. Miles also served as attorney for the city of La Grange, Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative, the Rural Electrification Association, First National Bank of La Grange, Fayette Memorial Hospital, and La Grange Public Schools. He was a member of the Fayette County Bar Association, American Bar Association, La Grange Masonic Lodge, La Grange Rotary Club, and the First Presbyterian Church of La Grange where he served as a member of the board of deacons. He enjoyed reading, photography, hunting, fishing, and especially family. MOSS, Miles Littleton (I13556)
 
1343 Milton attended public schools in La Grange and was known for both his scholastic and athletic abilities. He won the state track meet in high hurdles his senior year. After high school, he began working for the rural electric group. He met Lucille at a dance and married soon afterwards. They lived in La Grange most of their lives. With the help of Willie Echols and his dad, Milton and Lucille built the home of their dreams on Horton Street. After working all night at the ice plant, Milton would work on their house in the day. All five children built homes along Horton Street on George's property. Milton worked at various jobs during his lifetime: rural electric, oil exploration, rancher, bus station manager of the bus station, and mail carrier. His score on the test for the Civil Service was the highest recorded for that area. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service, but continued to ranch. He was a hard worker and cared deeply for his family. He platted the Rosenberg Addition for Paula in her declining years and helped sell off the property. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family and friends. VON ROSENBERG, Milton Max (I13868)
 
1344 Milton attended school in La Grange, Texas, and after graduating attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received a degree in electrical engineering. He returned to Texas and worked most of his life as an electrical engineer for building contractors in San Antonio, Texas. Milton belonged to the Hermann Sons Lodge in San Antonio. 1345 Milton was the owner and operator of Best Electric Company in Cuero. He was also the Assistant Chief of the Cuero Volunteer Fire Department. 1346 Minna was ten years old when she immigrated to the United States with her family. They entered the country at Baltimore, Maryland, rode the train to Texas, and settled at La Grange. When nineteen years old, the family moved to Sharp. There she married Hugo. Minna was a hard worker around the house, maintaining a vegetable garden, raising chickens, growing flowers, and housework. However, she also regularly visited the sick at King’s Daughter’s Hospital in Temple, taking them flowers from her garden. 1350 Morris was born and raised in New Ulm, attending high school there. Afterwards, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He played amateur baseball in New Ulm. His exploits on the field earned him membership in the South Texas Baseball Hall of Fame. Another interest was music, which he was able to dabble in as a member of a popular local band named the High Notes. As for occupation, Morris worked as a typesetter for the New Ulm Enterprise and Bellville Times newspapers. He also operated a small phone company in New Ulm. NEUMANN, Morris Leon (I13972)
