- Laura graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She studied foreign languages there and at the University of Michigan where her husband Bill was working on his Ph.D. She taught school at Water Valley in Galveston and again in the Jefferson County, Alabama, schools after her children had grown. She earned the title of Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. She worked as a sectional director for 18 years, receiving credit for original progressions for individual player tournaments. After Bill’s death, she moved to Dallas, Texas, to be close to her family and where she has done some Spanish coaching, bridge playing, and traveling. She is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
