Notes |
- Bill taught biological chemistry in medical schools in Texas, Michigan, and Alabama. He worked in cancer research at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston from 1950 to 1954. He then moved his family to Birmingham, Alabama, where he taught at the University of Alabama Medical School until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Phi Chi social fraternity, Phi Beta Kappa, and Sigma Xi. He enjoyed target shooting, hunting, fishing, and traveling. During an extended power outage during the Blizzard of 1993, he fell at his home while alone and was unable to maintain the fireplace. He had died from hypothermia before help arrived.
