- The oldest child in the family, Cohen grew up and attended grade school in Lake Victor, Texas. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in October of that same year. He was a radio operator mechanic, serving six months on Iwo Jima. He received his discharge in 1946. Cohen went to work for Western Electric in 1947. He retired in 1981 after 34 years of employment. During his retirement, he worked at Lampasas Golf Course and pursued his hobbies of woodwork, clock making, fishing, stamp collecting and golf. He sold his home in Lampasas after his wife passed away and bought a small stock farm outside of Lake Victor. Cohen was a 50 year member of the Lake Victor Masonic Lodge #1011 and served for four years as Worshipful Master. He also served as secretary for four years. He received the Golden Travel award in 1999. He is a deacon at the Lake Victor Baptist Church and was instrumental in installing air conditioning in the Lake Victor Community Center by a donation in the memory of his mother, father, and sister. He worked long hours to get a 50 year marker put up at the Masonic building.
