- “When a year old [Obediah] moved with his parents to a farm northwest of Whitesboro TX. He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1893. In 1895 he married Miss Nannie Field at Nocona TX where he and his brother, Mel, were in the grocery business. He and his wife moved to Fleetwood in 1898 which continued to be his home except from 1919 to 1924, when he was in the grocery business in Ryan.
“He was postmaster at Fleetwood until he was retired when he reached the age of 70 years. He also had a general merchandise store and gin at Fleetwood. He was a charter member of the Masonic Territorial Lodge at Terral and also a charter member of the lodge when it was reorganized after statehood. He had a life membership in the Terral Lodge.”
