Notes |
- Opal graduated from high school in Burnet, Texas in May 1945. She joined her family at Camp Hood (now Fort Hood) and worked for the government as a teletype operator in the communications center. She married Jeffie in late 1946, which began her nomadic life as an army wife, which lasted 20 years. Besides living in numerous army posts in the United States, she lived in France for six years and Turkey for two and one-half years. They were married 14 years before their daughter was born. At that time they decided to settle down so Jeffie retired in 1965 and they returned to Bosque County, Texas and purchased the Hanna family farm. There they ranched and raised registered Yorkshire terriers and Lhasa Apsos. For health reasons, they moved to Temple, Texas and after 51 years of marriage they divorced. Opal resided in Temple and enjoyed being near her daughter and her grandchildren and other members of her family.
