| Notes |
- Eugen arrived in Texas with his parents in 1849, settling on the Nassau Plantation. Soon he owned his own livestock. In adulthood he farmed and ran a freight express to the nearest railroad station. After serving in the Civil War, he made trips to Mexico to sell cotton. He enjoyed smoking a pipe, keeping a small patch of tobacco in his garden.
