    • Miles graduated from La Grange High School and received his LL.B. from the University of Texas (Austin) School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in 1935. He practiced law in La Grange from 1935 to 1938 and from 1945 until his death in 1986. From 1938 to 1945 he served as assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern district of Texas. Miles also served as attorney for the city of La Grange, Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative, the Rural Electrification Association, First National Bank of La Grange, Fayette Memorial Hospital, and La Grange Public Schools. He was a member of the Fayette County Bar Association, American Bar Association, La Grange Masonic Lodge, La Grange Rotary Club, and the First Presbyterian Church of La Grange where he served as a member of the board of deacons. He enjoyed reading, photography, hunting, fishing, and especially family.
