- Omar had very little schooling, as he left home at an early age to earn a living. He was educated by various occupations and received his travel experiences by serving the Army during World War I. Since he was experienced in several fields, he had no problem securing work. Omar went to work at Fort Hood in the early 1940s. He developed heart problems and spent much time in Baylor Hospital. He did get to enjoy his baby girl for eight months before he passed away.
